Katherine (Kathy) Lin learned how to play chess when she was in first grade from her father. She participated in tournaments throughout elementary and middle school. After graduating from Kenyon College, Kathy moved to San Antonio, Texas, where she became a teacher and started up the chess club at Lanier High School. During her time there, Lanier won back-to-back Regional Championships, as well as second place in the Texas State Championships in the JV Division. Kathy moved back to Columbus, where she currently teaches math and runs the chess club at The Wellington School. In addition to playing in tournaments around Columbus, Kathy also is a Local Tournament Director and has directed several tournaments, including the State of Ohio All Girls Championship. Kathy volunteers at the Boys and Girls club giving lessons, and gives private chess lessons as well.
